19A- Idea Napkin No. 2

1. You?
I am a general business major with a specialization in statistics and an actuarial science minor. I am involved with many organizations on campus as well as working as a certified personal trainer. I aspire to help others improve their mental and physical health through fitness. I also am eager to gain invaluable entrepreneurial skills through taking and completing this course. I aspire to create a program within a given company that matches gym members with 'buddies' to train with as well as keep as an accountability partner. As a personal trainer and someone with a passion for fitness, I see this business perfectly fitting into my lifestyle and my goals. I want my clients as well as any gym member to feel acclimated and comfortable in a gym setting so they will continue purchasing the membership.

2. What are you offering to customers?
I will solve the unmet need of gym intimidation by offering a service in which members of a given gym will fill out a survey based on preferences, training times, experience levels, etc. and be matched with a partner to workout with. This service will be completely free with the membership of the gym.

3. Who are you offering to?:
My customers are those who are members/looking to be a member of a given gym and have an unmet need of feeling intimidated or lonely in the gym. This can potentially be anyone already at the gym or anyone looking to improve their lifestyle and begin working out.

4. Why do they care?:
Because this service is free with a membership, customers will find this reasonable and most likely continue purchasing the membership. My goal is to generate more revenue for the gym with this product because it will differentiate that gym from all the others. This product can also encourage personal training packages with promotions for those who fill out the survey. For example, giving out discounts on 'buddy' personal training sessions.

5. What are your core competencies?:
This service is not yet in place with any large commercial gym company. I believe this sets me apart from competitors because it is free, shows loyalty and concern for customers and really speaks on a topic not often addressed in gyms. I believe if executed correctly, this service has the power to generate a large amount of revenue for a gym.

After revisiting my Idea Napkin, I believe these elements all work well together in order to generate a firm business idea. Because it is something I feel passionate about and already am educated in the subject, it will be easy for me to really sell with confidence. The only questionable aspect of this model is how exactly I would be compensated for the service. Further, if this will be an outside service I sell to gyms or one associated with a major company.

Feedback Memo:
Upon receiving feedback regarding my original Idea Napkin, I revisited the post with the knowledge I have gained since writing it. While I still agree with most of what was said originally, I took into account specifically addressing how I would implement my service and being detailed with the steps I would take. I also altered my post to show more confidence in my idea and my plans to execute this. I found that originally, I sounded unsure in some aspects and lacked the confidence needed to convince others to believe in the opportunity. I believe that looking at the feedback given to me and altering my Napkin benefitted my opportunity immensely.
