4A- Forming An Opportunity Belief: A Twist on Opportunity Identification

Beginning Point: Walking into a public gym environment can often be intimidating for inexperienced lifters or those just beginning a healthier lifestyle. They're extremely crowded at times, there are often very experienced lifters there who have a lean physique, and machines/free weights are confusing with little to no instruction. I scoped out potential needs in my community of Tampa, FL and was lead to examining an unmet need at an organization called Hope Lodge. Often times, cancer patients have to travel out of town to receive treatments at a specific hospital. American Cancer Society recognized this issue and houses cancer patients for free while receiving treatment through Hope Lodge. After volunteering there and speaking with patients and staff, I gathered that there was an unmet need for information regarding locations of various necessities around the hotel due to the unfamiliar area. Patients were consistently asking for directions to grocery stores, movie theatres, amusement parks, pharmacies, etc. I decided to create a permanent activity...
