30A – Final Reflection

1. Throughout the course of this class, we have completed a wide variety of assignments pertaining to all aspects of an entrepreneurship mindset. Looking back on all I have done, it is evident that I was not as sure of myself and my capabilities in the beginning. I was also not as sure in the meaning of entrepreneurship in the first couple assignments. I clearly grew in understanding as well as confidence as the semester progressed.

2. The most formative experience for me was completing the idea napkins. This assignment allowed me to connect my ideas to my core competencies, something I had not thought of as having value previously. This allowed me to expand upon my idea and customize it to be something I was passionate about. I really enjoyed reading the books related to entrepreneurship/business because it is something I had not yet done on my own but wanted to. I feel like I learned extremely valuable concepts in the book I read as well as reading my peers' reflections on the other books. I am proud of my completion of the course and all of the skills I have gained from it.

3. I can confidently say that I now see myself having an entrepreneurial mindset. I look at various aspects of my life with the possibility for a new opportunity or an unmet need. There have been multiple times in which I discovered something in my life I felt that had a gap and thought about ways to fill it. I also look at failure much differently and with more value than before. I see it as a growing opportunity and something to celebrate.

4. I would recommend making full effort in completing your interviews and choosing the ideal customers for the assignments involving interviews. They are extremely helpful in understanding your opportunity as a whole and provide necessary research to progress in your idea. I would also emphasize watching all lectures without distraction and listening in on the concepts you feel would most benefit your mindset as an entrepreneur. Reflect on each and be sure to take detailed notes.

  1. Taylor,

I too agree that I now have a entrepreneurial mindset after learning and embracing this class. At first, I too felt a little incapable of being able to fully embrace and fulfill the entrepreneurial mindset. I also loved the idea napkin assignments, they gave force you to open upon your concept and see how it can and would work in the real market. Overall, this class did end up teaching me a lot and I'm glad to see it did for you too. I genuinely enjoyed reading your blog posts all semester and wish you the best of luck!

  2. Hi Taylor,
I 100 percent agree! I think finding the solution is the easy part, as anyone can think of the solution to their problem. The next true obstacle is feasibility, as we can think our idea is amazing on paper, but in practice it might now work. I hope the solution you have found to the rental car problem works out, and I'm eager to see where you go next. Well done!

  3. Hi Taylor,

I really enjoyed reading your final reflection and thoughts on this semester. I also agree it is very important to select the right person when interviewing them for your assignments. Often, the people you interview provide you with the best feedback. You can take the feedback and then apply it to later assignments in the class and help you shape how you develop your product or service.

  4. Taylor,

I agree that in the beginning of this course, I was not as sure of my capabilities or I had what it takes to succeed within this profession. Over time, with the help of the assignments, I learned that I always did have a entrepreneurial mindset but just needed that spark or motivation to really get it going. This is same case for a lot of other students in the course. The interviews and peer reviews have also provided great feedback that can help any of us in our future careers and business opportunities. I wish you the best!
