Bug List

  1.  The lack of scooter parking in the parking lot of Beaty Towers

Why: The lack of awareness/concern from UF Transportation Services due to revenue generated from scooter parking citations.

      2.  How crowded the Southwest Recreation center is from 2-6pm daily

Why: The University has failed to implement more rec facilities and equipment to provide for the number of students who actively use them because they don't need to improve their appearance due to their high rating.

     3. The inflation of prices in all POD markets on campus

Why: The University knows students will still buy the products as it is convenient for on-campus residents as well as those going to class.

     4. Apple phones becoming slower as they get older

Why: They are designed to process slower as time goes on and new phones are created in hopes that users will replace their old phones and purchase a new one.

     5. Having to get oil changes so often

Why: Cars need oil changes in order to properly function and prevent the engine from wearing early.

     6. The WiFi speed at Pascal's coffeehouse not being adequate enough to stream lecture videos

Why: Pascal's has not invested in a stronger WiFi network because not enough people have voiced their opinion on the issue

     7. When a package doesn't come on the expected delivery date

Why: The company in which the package was shipped through underestimated the time it would take to come or experienced other travel delays.

     8. Stores that display a misleading deal such as "Buy One Get One" and then say 50% off in small letters

Why: Stores are trying to mislead you into buying the items, and there's a higher chance you will look or consider buying the item if you initially believe the deal is better than it is.

     9. People from kiosks at the mall approaching all mall-goers to buy products

Why: Not enough people are purchasing their items and they're trying to promote them.

     10. Having to approach a gym employee to scan your card every time you sign in at Youfit

Why: A better sign-in system has not been implemented or is not preferred by the company to use.

      11. Losing service while on I-75 around the Wildwood exit and Waze stops navigating

Why: Certain areas in Florida are rural and thus lack adequate cell signal towers surrounding the highway.

     12. Excessive potholes on Countryway Boulevard in Tampa

Why: Lack of effort or funds to repave roads in Hillsborough County

     13. Commercial gyms such as Youfit and Planet Fitness having little to no squat racks

Why: Not enough consideration for those who regularly use them.

     14. Certain gas pumps will not work with my Hyundai Genesis and will stop pumping every 10 seconds until I readjust the pump

Why: The gas tank model or shape is inefficient/faulty and was not carefully analyzed by Hyundai.

     15. People that walk slowly in front of me when I'm unable to pass them

Why: They may not be in as much of a hurry or are preoccupied with their phone.

     16. How rude and unfriendly airport security employees are

Why: They are most likely underpaid and not in their most ideal job position.

     17. How expensive fresh fruit is

Why: It's a necessity and people will never stop buying it, so cost increase will most likely not affect sales if all companies participate.

     18. People who post something on social media telling me to like another post

Why: People want more likes/comments on their social media in order to look popular or gain attention.

     19. When a price tag leaves a sticky residue on the item and it won't come off

Why: Cheap or inefficient label and lack of proper testing beforehand.

     20. Youtube stopping a video in the middle to display an ad

Why: Everyone will continue to watch them, it generates revenue for Youtube either way because you can pay to not see them and they receive money from the companies who purchase the ads, and the companies benefit by producing customers.

Reflection: This assignment started out fairly easy as the first 7 or 8 were generated from memory and are my most irritating bugs. After that, I had to return to the assignment about every 24 hours to add more bugs until I reached 20. It took me living my everyday life to really analyze the bugs I face and record them. I enjoyed thinking about things that annoy me in this way, it was interesting to look back at why they happen and allowed me to generate ideas/solutions/results of my annoyance with the topics. I feel like I was able to understand the mindset of an entrepreneur more clearly through doing this assignment and believe there was a large benefit to doing it.

  1. I can relate to a lot of those bugs. You did a great job at explaining every bug and why it exists. I work at Southwest so I can definitely relate to the crowds, it sucks because almost everyone rushes to the gym at the same time (after class). The first 10 bugs are always the easiest to list, but you really have to think about it when listing more! Understanding the mindset of an entrepreneur is a very important skill, especially in this class. Great overall content!

  2. Taylor,

I agree with most of the bugs on your list, and the one about people in the mall made me laugh. I almost never go to an indoor mall anymore due to this specific reason. The strangest thing about these sales people is that they have no ability to gauge what kind of people might actually buy their products. I've been offered everything from light up sneakers, to walk-in bathtubs for the elderly before. You did a very good job making this list, and I will definitely be back!
